Education Work:

Worcester Career & Technology Center

140,000 SF     Newark, Maryland

The programming and design of the new Worcester Career and Technology Center presents a tremendous opportunity. The existing facility that supports this program in the County is undersized and grossly inadequate. With the decision to construct a new facility, the County affirmed its commitment to the career and technology program. Following the Maryland State Department of Education’s guidelines for Career technology Education (CTE), the new facility will support the various career clusters that the County has identified as being vital to their mission. These programs will be organized in “super-clusters”, combining similar programs and needs, to enable the school to benefit from the opportunities presented with shared learning. Concurrent with the programming is the development of the Schematic Design. This process allows both the program and the design to be developed in concert, creating a more appropriate and fitting response to the County’s needs. The goal is to create a state-of-the-art facility, with light-filled spaces that celebrate the student’s efforts and achievements.
