State of Delaware Southern Courts Facilities Study

Kent/Sussex County, Delaware

The State of Delaware contracted with BSA+A and Justice Planning Associates to conduct a space study for courts in the southern counties of Kent and Sussex. The project involved the assessment of property, buildings, and operations at three court facilities: the Kent County Family Court in Dover, the Sussex County Family Court in Georgetown, and the Sussex County Courthouse in Georgetown, which is home to the Superior and Common Pleas Courts. As part of the space study, long-term needs of the courts were projected to the year 2030. The existing facilities were evaluated, scored, and assessed based on renovation and expansion potential and options were developed which address long-term needs. Projected costs for each recommended option have also been estimated.
