Paterson Plank Road Redevelopment

Bergen County, New Jersey

BSA+A created a concept plan for the redevelopment of 146 acres for the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission. Located along Paterson Plank Road in Carlstadt and East Rutherford in Bergen County, this corridor has historically been considered the “back door” to Giants Stadium, Continental Arena, and the Meadowlands Racetrack. In an effort to revitalize the area and maximize the area development potential, our team designed a mixed-use development which consists of retail and office space, hotels, and restaurants with improved roadway patterns and a pedestrian scale streetscape. An indoor skating rink, outdoor amphitheater, and softball fields are some of the public amenities offered to preserve open space and provide public enjoyment. Utilizing LEED design tenets like the maximization of open space, storm water design, light pollution reduction, water use reduction, and on site renewable energy, our team provided a sustainable design for this redevelopment project.
