North Star Elementary School is a new 56,000 SF elementary school in Hockessin, Delaware. North Star holds 650 students in grades K-5 for Red Clay Consolidated School District. The main challenge with this project was working with the sloping site surrounded by residential neighborhoods. The facility is designed to fit with the natural slope of the site. The main floor is at street level elevation, while the lower level is at grade to the rear of the building. As a community school, the building blends with the numerous neighboring
housing developments.
