Community Service Building

200,000 SF 300-car Capacity     Wilmington, Delaware

The transformation of the aging 200,000 SF Montchanin Building into a state-of-the-art office building housing 74 nonprofit organizations with varying needs required significant renovation to the existing mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems. The lobby work included a complete rehabilitation and renovation of the space. A cafe area and security offices were incorporated, as well as elevator upgrades.

Winner of an AIA Delaware Design Award, the new 500-car parking garage and future podium for a nine-story office building was heralded as very important to both the programmatic concept and the long term success of Community Service Building project. The parking garage is a highly visible “building on the boulevard,” with exterior accent floodlighting used to highlight the building’s unique facade.
