New Castle Public Library Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

February 18, 2010

The New Castle Public Library is ready to reopen its doors! The Trustees of the Commons hired BSA+A to complete the addition and renovation to the New Castle Public Library. The major challenges included the acquisition and historical renovation of the house adjacent to the library, and the complete upgrade of the original library. The scope of work included 7,900 square feet of renovations to the existing New Castle Public Library, the acquisition and remodel of the 3,000 square foot historic house adjacent to the property, and a new three-story 5,000 square foot addition.

The BSA+A team worked with the Committee by focusing on their needs such as having the services staff remain on the first level, conducting a roof assessment, creating additional storage, providing an elevator that is accessible to the community, improving the meeting space, and making sure the building is ADA/fire and building code compliant. The new design focuses on functional, open space with attention to natural light.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is on Friday, March 19, 2010.
