BSA+A was recently hired to renovate the W. B. Simpson Elementary School in the Caesar Rodney School District. Built in 1962, it is located adjacent to the District office in Camden-Wyoming, Del. The scope of work includes a full interior and exterior renovation.
The interior renovations include, but are not limited to, classrooms, all corridors, the relocation, reorganization and upgrade of the library, nurse, and admin suite. BSA+A is adding two classrooms and an elevator, renovating the kitchen and cafeteria, and reorganizing the main lobby and entry sequence. The renovation also includes full MEP upgrades and the building is being converted to a geothermal system. Code, technology and environmental upgrades are being made to the original building.
Exterior work includes a partial roof and full window replacement, and the replacement of the exterior curtain wall. In addition, the current parking and parent drop-off will be addressed to provide for more efficient and safe vehicle/pedestrian interaction. This includes a new access point to Old North Road, and new exterior lighting, a flagpole, and marquee sign.
W.B. Simpson Elementary School renovations are scheduled to be completed in August of 2011.
